This plan is a unique combination of the following herbs:
GINSENG (SIBERIAN)
Helps the body cope with physical and mental stress. Promotes physical stamina and endurance. Containing niacin, amino acids, carbohydrates and other vitamins and minerals, Siberian Ginseng has been used to promote an overall sense of well-being. After nearly a thousand studies, Siberian Ginseng nutritionally supports the glandular system. Herbalists call this herb an "adaptogen", which means that it helps the body adapt to any situation which normally would alter its function. The eleutherosides have been shown to be responsible for the adaptogenic properties of the plant. The eleutherosides are a range of glycosides with aromatic alcohol aglycones. The glycosides appear to act on the adrenal glands, helping to prevent adrenal hypertrophy and excess corticosteroid production in response to stress. The eleutherosides additionally help reduce the exhaustion phase of the stress response, and return the adrenals to normal function faster. As a result, Siberian Ginseng has a beneficial effect on the heart and circulation. It has been shown to increase energy & stamina, and to help the body resist viral infections, environmental toxins, radiation, and chemotherapy. In Chinese Medicine, this Ginseng has been used to prevent bronchial and other respiratory infections, as well as viral infections. The Chinese used the root to provide energy & vitality, to increase resistance, and to treat rheumatic diseases and heart ailments. Siberian Ginseng has also been used in cardiovascular & neuro-vascular conditions to help restore memory, concentration, and cognitive abilities which may be impaired from poor blood supply to the brain. Additionally, Siberian Ginseng is a popular herbal remedy for debility, depression, fatigue, and nervous breakdowns.
WHITE WILLOW BARK
Used for centuries for pain relief and reduction of fever. Helps relieve symptoms of headaches, arthritis, rheumatism and bursitis. Natural salicylic acid is nearly as potent as aspirin, however, the compound salicin from willow does not cause gastric or intestinal upset or bleeding as aspirin can, because willow does not block prostaglandins in the stomach or intestines.
FO-TI
Detoxifies and strengthens the blood and invigorates the liver and kidneys. Enhances longevity, prevents premature aging, and increases vigor. Lowers blood cholesterol. The root contains lectins, which appear to help prevent cholesterol accumulation in the liver and fat retention in the blood. Several clinical studies in China suggest the processed herb is useful in treating high cholesterol, heart conditions, and chronic bronchitis.
CHOLINE
Controls Cholesterol build up, helps regulate liver and gal bladder and lowers blood pressure. Choline assists in controlling your weight as well as cholesterol levels, keeping cell membranes healthy and in preventing gallstones. It is also most useful in the maintenance of the nervous system, assisting memory and learning, and may help to fight infections, including hepatitis and AIDS. Choline is critical for normal membrane structure and function.
LICORICE
Licorice Root has been used to adjust blood sugar, reduce pain from ulcer and arthritis. It contains vitamin E, B-complex, biotin, niacin, pantothenic acid, lecithin, manganese and other trace elements. Although Licorice has been used as a flavoring for hundreds of years, many people don't know that it also has very beneficial medicinal qualities. Licorice root has gained a reputation for strengthening the body during times of stress. Research has shown that Licorice helps treat and relieve the pains that accompany certain types of ulcers. Finally, Licorice also has anti-inflammatory properties and may therefore help relieve the discomforts that accompany arthritic conditions.
POTASSIUM
Helps prevent hypertension, strokes and helps lower blood pressure.
VITAMIN B-6
Helps maintain health of the central nervous system. Alleviates nausea. Aides in weight control. It is required in balancing of hormonal changes in women as well as assisting the immune system and the growth of new cells. It is also used in the processing and metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, while assisting with controlling your mood as well as your behavior. Helps to relieve PMS symptoms and premenstrual acne.
BUCHU LEAVES
Helps digestive disorders and relieves inflammation.
CAYENNE PEPPER
The main medicinal properties of cayenne are derived from a chemical called capsaicin. In addition to adding heat to the pepper, capsaicin acts to reduce platelet stickiness and relieve pain. Other constituents of cayenne are vitamins E, vitamin C and carotenoids. Today cayenne is used worldwide to treat a variety of health conditions, including poor circulation, weak digestion, heart disease, chronic pain, sore throats, headaches and toothache.
Ayurveda also utilizes cayenne to treat poor digestion and gas. Chinese medicine uses cayenne for digestive ailments.
When taken internally, cayenne soothes the digestive tract and stimulates the flow of stomach secretions and saliva. These secretions contain substances which help digest food.
Cayenne is the greatest herbal aid to circulation and can be used on a regular basis. Dr. Richard Schulze, the medical herbalist, says that "If you master only one herb in your life, master cayenne pepper. It is more powerful than any other."
Cayenne moves blood. There is no other herb which increases your blood flow faster than cayenne. Cayenne moves blood. When people ask Dr. Schultze, "What are the 10 most important herbs to have in the home?" He tells them, "At the top of the list is cayenne pepper, because it will make the other 9 work better."
Cayenne is the greatest blood circulation stimulant known. You can take all the milk thistle you want, but if you have bad circulation to your liver, it's not going to do you any good. Cayenne increases your blood circulation immediately within seconds, more than any other herb.
ASTRAGALUS
Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years to promote the discharge of urine, lower blood pressure, and increase endurance. Clinically, it is used primarily for general digestive disorders such as diarrhea, gas, and bloating, as well as chronic phlegm production. This herb is also used for its immune enhancing properties, especially for the prevention and treatment of the common cold and chronic hepatitis.
In the United States, astragalus has been investigated as a possible treatment for patients whose immune systems have been compromised by chemotherapy or radiation. Astragalus supplements have been shown to speed recovery and extend life expectancy in these patients. Research regarding the use of astragalus in people with AIDS has produced intriguing but inconclusive results.
Recent research in China indicates that astragalus may offer antioxidant benefits in people with severe forms of heart disease, relieving symptoms and improving heart function. Because astragalus has many potential applications and few, if any, side effects, it holds promise as an alternative treatment option.
GUARANA
Besides its refreshing and nutritive value, Guarana is used to treat diarrhea, decrease fatigue, reduce hunger, and help arthritis. It also has a history of use in treating hangovers from alcohol abuse and headaches related to menstruation. The plant was introduced into France by a physician who was returning from Brazil. It came to be employed in the treatment of migraine and nervous headaches, neuralgia, paralysis, urinary tract irritation, and other ailments, as well as continuing to be administered for chronic diarrhea.
GARCINIA CAMBOGIA
In recent years, Garcinia cambogia has been promoted for weight loss due to various possible effects it may have on the body. First, it is believed to interfere with an enzyme needed to store fat, possibly causing more fat from foods to be eliminated from the body. In addition, Garcinia cambogia may cause the body to use existing fat stores for energy during prolonged exercise. Ordinarily, carbohydrates are used before fats during exercise.
Garcinia cambogia has appeared to prevent the development of stomach ulcers. Although the exact process is still unclear, the HCA in Garcinia cambogia is believed to reduce the production of stomach acid. Excess amounts of stomach acid may contribute to the development of stomach ulcers. Garcinia cambogia may also enhance the ability of the stomach lining to resist damage.
PHOSPHATIDYLSERINE
Promotes brain cell function and helps improve memory loss. Phosphatidylserine has demonstrated usefulness in treating cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer's disease, age-associated memory impairment and some non-Alzheimer's dementias.
UVA URSI LEAVES
Eliminates excessive bloating, strengthens heart muscle, and helps disorders of the small intestine.
CHROMIUM PICOLINATE
Chromium picolinate is a nutritional supplement that works to increase the efficiency of insulin to optimal levels. Gaining increased popularity in the United States, this supplement has been touted a miracle mineral, one advertised to have myriad effects including weight loss, mood enhancement, energy promotion, increase in life span, and even the prevention of acne (Krzanowski, 1996). The most common usage for chromium picolinate is as a weight loss aid; claims that this supplement can melt fat, drastically reduce appetite, and increase metabolism are rampant and account for the popularity of chromium picolinate in our diet-obsessed culture. Recently, the supplement has been marketed as a “safe alternative to steroids,” claiming to increase strength and lean muscle mass (Trent &Thieding-Cancel, 1995).
After eating, the human body secretes the hormone insulin. In general, the primary function of insulin is to transport glucose to the body’s cells in order to provide energy that facilitates cell functioning. It is speculated that chromium picolinate works by stimulating the activity of insulin, thus significantly aiding the body’s glucose and fat metabolism, managing the breakdown of glucose and fat.
LECITHIN
Lecithin is promoted as a quick fix for weight loss, as well as many other diseases and ailments. Lecithin helps in recovery of memory loss, improves chemical brain activity, reduces cholesterol, and has a beneficial role in:
- Cardiovascular health
